The gall! Community fosters ingenuity and artistic liberty, but creativity demands resources. This is where The gall! Grant steps in. Members of our Community may be considered as participants in the grant program to further develop and display their work.

To be eligible, applicants must be an artist between the ages of 21-35, actively working in an artistic capacity, and have a history of completed projects. Pre-existing membership within The gall! Community is mandatory.

The application requires a thoroughly-outlined project proposal. This includes expected output, what makes the project–or the artist themself–uniquely suited to our mission, and why funding is needed. We also want to know about your plans for collaboration and what you’re looking for from potential mentors. Detailed written recommendations from two former funders or collaborators are necessary. Following the application period, an interview process is used to select grant recipients.

Beneficiaries are afforded funding incrementally throughout their creative process of about five months. Brief check-ins with The gall! leadership and mentoring from our advisory board will aid in fortifying the artist, maintaining the project’s momentum, and ensuring success. Finally, each of the grant recipients’ finished works will be shown in a combined showcase held in New York City in the winter of that year.

This is a unique opportunity to pursue your project that would be impossible to realize elsewhere. You have the vision; we’ll give you The gall!

The goal of our grant program is to provide both mentorship and funding to young artists and projects that are otherwise underserved and silenced by an ideologically-driven industry.

Recipients of The gall! Grant are provided substantial support and guidance from our artistic advisory board to facilitate the creation and display of a countercultural art piece.
